How does Wanderful Media top off a year that redesigned a website, launched an iPad and iPhone App and moved lock stock and barrel into one of Chico’s coolest buildings? By being named “Tech Company of the Year” during the Innovate North State’s 29th Annual Innovation Awards on December 3, 2013.

Bob Clark accepted the award on behalf of Wanderful Media. Chico-based employees Janene Mendoth, Kevon Knudsen, Thomas Schmidt, Tony Lee and Luis Cheung attended the event, as well as staffed a table during the networking reception, providing company information and demos of Find&Save to attendees.

Bob Clark shared the following thoughts on receiving the award:

It is great to be recognized as Tech Company of the Year by Innovate North State and our peers in Northern California. To be a finalist among the range of tech companies including, Heath Care, IT Services, Aerospace Defense Manufacturing, Data Center/Colocation, and Advanced Robotics is an honor in itself. To win this award shows that what we have done in changing the landscape of online to offline shopping is tremendous. The redesign, expansion and launch of or Find&Save network of sites for discovery shopping along with a new iPad app for browsing sales from your favorite retailers and an iPhone app as a shopping companion are great accomplishments this year.

But, Tech company of the year means more than just the great technology we create. It is also about our commitment to our community. In refurbishing and remodeling a historic 120 year old building in downtown Chico, retaining the charm and history while bringing in the latest in technology to become our new office, it has become a show piece for the community. This allows us to be closer with our local businesses and to be a collaborator with our local University, Chico State, and the range of technology and business programs they offer. Providing opportunities to students through internships and full-time jobs after graduation allows students to have opportunity in technology fields and continue to live in a great community.

Our cooperative relationships with other local technology companies to recruit, develop and retain the best and the brightest brings Chico closer to being a Technology Hub that attracts more companies to relocate or start up in our community improving the economics and opportunities for all.

Last but not least is the work we have done to promote a culture in our company that makes work fun. Collaborative, Cooperative, Committed, Comfortable, Healthy and Happy are some of the words to describe how we see our work place. We have perks like those offered by other tech firms including snacks and refreshments, fun events, relaxation stations, gaming systems and more. We also encourage commuting by bicycle offering indoor bike storage, lockers and showers. We strive to have a culture that is the envy of our peers and makes us the desired workplace in the community.
